This week:  Cloth Diapers

I have tried the following cloth diapers, covers, etc.over the past year:

Dappi covers
prefolds
Kushies Ultra AIOs
Flip
gDiaper
plastic pants
wool covers

So far:
Seriously, prefolds, some pins, and some vinyl pants get the job done.  Anything else is unnecessary, more adorable, but unnecessary.  Storing pins in a bar of soap helps them slide through the fabric easily.  Plus, this route is cheap.  What more could you want?

Wool covers are the best for nighttime use!  I made mine, but you can buy them as well.  They don't stink or leak until the lanolin needs refreshing, which is really simple to do.  I even crocheted a pair from acrylic yarn.  Those work great, too.  They just get stinky.

Next, I would probably go with the Kushies Ultras.  They go on like a disposable, are very Daddy/caretaker friendly, and have taken a serious beating.  When Gus was smaller, poop would leak out of the legs sometimes.  Gross, so that's where the demerit points come in.  Now that he's older, it's not a problem.  However, nighttime use is iffy - we tended to have leak issues.

Dappi covers would come next.  Again, on the cheap side.  Just use any diaper cloth and velcro them on.  The biggest problem was that the velcro would chafe his baby belly and leave red marks.  That's never any good.  Not for nighttime use, though.

Then, I suppose the Flip system.  I only use them at night.  One poop and the cover is done for.  Plus, they lock in smell.  Gus poops about five times a day.  I do not have time to rinse, rinse, rinse every time my son has a BM.  They fit snuggly, but the tabs tend to shift about.  I do, however, think the Flip inserts are the greatest thing since sliced bread.  They're like the Sham Wow.  I also have bum genius inserts.  Lukewarm on those.  They don't absorb as well.

Last, is the gDiaper.  For poop, they are good.  Rarely has BM gotten on the cover.  If Gus poops, I just snap out the liner and put a new one in.  Very nice, indeed.  However, my gDiapers are falling apart.  For the full scoop go to their Facebook page.  The short story - save your cash.

These sites offer a cloth diaper trial period and assortment packages!!  Sweet!!  I wish I had known about them sooner.
